 3Vs OF BIG DATA

 In this blog, I will precisely explain the characteristics of Big Data: (3Vs). 

 The massive amount of structured and unstructured Big data is collected daily by the companies and are measured in 3 dimensions: Volume, Variety and Velocity. 

 The volume refers to a large amount of information generated through multiple sources like websites, online applications & social media platforms. These data are helping the company to shape the future while tracking the progress. For example, if look we at the statistics of Facebook, 293,000 statuses are updated, 5000,000 comments posted and 136,000 photos are updated on Facebook every minute. (Hackernoon.com, 2020). Now you can imagine, it is not only big but also grown enormously. 

Variety: The data that is received is not only obtained from one source, but it is also acquired from multiple/variety of sources that make it big. These sources of information vary depending upon the nature of the work. Generally, the variety of data is characterized into three types: Structured, Semi-Structured and Unstructured data. The data that gathers have many coasting with different ethics. 

As explained by Muñoz, when setting the campaign in motion it is really important to know how many people opened the email, but it also very valuable to know which segment these people are from.

 Volume: The important characteristics make data massive is the absolute volume and its huge expansion every year. The components that are used to define the size of the data that is managed by the companies comes with concerns related to its manageability, accessibility and scalability. The volume of data helps the company to focus on processing the present and the future storage capacity with effectively utilizing the current storage infrastructure.
